This initiative, launched in collaboration with Hackster.io, aimed to encourage universities to develop innovative solutions using Sony Semiconductor Solutions' sensing technologies.

In the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2024) in Yokohama from May 13-17, Sony exhibited its latest robotics-related technologies. This marked the first time the Sensing Solution University Collaboration Program (SSUP) exhibited alongside the Sony Research Award Program (RAP).

The SSUP initiative in India exemplifies the potential of collaborative research in sensing solutions. From healthcare to industrial applications, these projects create impactful solutions to real-world problems as well as advance technology. Here are the standout projects.

The contest is organized jointly by the D-ITET Center for Project Based Learning (PBL), The University of Liverpool, Manchester Metropolitan University, and sponsored by the Sony Semiconductor Solutions Group.

The project focuses on creating an innovative and cost-effective wearable sensor system that aims to monitor the pressure exerted between the limb and prosthetic socket in real-time, using the Spresense board.

200 students gathered for Hack-A-Bot at The University of Manchester (UoM), during the weekend of March 16-17. With a primary focus on robotics, edge computing, and rapid prototyping, the Hack-A-Bot has quickly become one of the largest hardware-centered hackathons in the UK.

UC Davis University showcased their project to build a series of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The goal is serving as a mobile sensor network to predict the spatial and temporal propagation of air pollution caused by wildfires.

This competition was centered on the theme of "Tiny Machine Learning on Sony Spresense" and was designed to catalyze innovative concepts in the realm of smart wireless sensors.
