Today we released the Camera Remote API beta SDK v2.10, adding support for Sony’s current flagship interchangeable lens digital camera α7R II. There is also support for the latest Cyber-shot RX Series; the compact RX100 IV and the high performance, high-zoom RX10 II, as well as the high-zoom compact cameras HX90 and WX500.
With the Camera Remote API beta SDK you can create innovative remote control applications for supported Sony cameras. You can wirelessly control camera settings, shooting functions, image transfer, playback and much more. The new interchangeable lens digital camera α7R II.
The new interchangeable lens digital camera α7R II features the world’s first back-illuminated full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor, which realizes approximately 42.4 MP. It is optimized to shoot and record 4K video, particularly in Super 35 mm format. The α7R II also includes 5-axis image stabilization that has been fine-tuned to support the camera’s high-resolution shooting capacity. The new compact camera RX100 IV and the new high-performance, high-zoom camera RX10 II both feature the world’s first memory-attached 1.0-type stacked CMOS sensor, which enables more than 5x faster readout of image data and allows the cameras to perform exceptionally well while capturing fast-moving objects. Both cameras have the ability to record super slow-motion video, up to 40x slower than the standard rate, which can be used to capture and replay moments of action with incredible detail, resolution and clarity.

Download the Camera Remote API beta SDK v2.10 and start developing for Sony’s cameras today. The Camera Remote API beta SDK includes API references, a development guide, and sample code for iOS and Android. The latest version of the Smart Remote Control application will have to be installed and started on the camera to enable the use of the APIs.
