Xperia X now supported on Sony’s Open Device program through new AOSP Marshmallow Experimental platform

Today, we’ve added a new AOSP Marshmallow experimental platform to our Open Device program. This provides an opportunity to develop custom ROMs for Xperia devices based on the very latest AOSP branch. It also allows for the addition of the Xperia X to the Open Device program as well as compatibility with most other supported devices.

This is an experimental AOSP Marshmallow platform and only recommended to very experienced developers. The functionality is limited, and improper use of this unstable software could lead to permanent damage to your device. For a more stable development base, take a look at the AOSP Marshmallow 6.0 build guide instead.

As usual, all resources available for the Open Device program can be accessed through our Open Devices page here on Developer World. Get started using the AOSP Marshmallow experimental platform by taking a look at the new build guide, device configurations and binaries. The experimental platform is compatible with all currently supported devices except the Xperia M2, Xperia E3, Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia T3.
