Sony's Open Devices finding use in secure communication

Thanks to the openness enabled by Sony’s Open Devices program, Orange Business Services have been chosen to equip the French National Gendarmerie and National Police with Xperia smartphones and tablets. The project is led by Orange Business Services and the devices are certified by ANSSI (National Agency for Security Information Systems).

Based on Sony’s open source and Google’s Android Open Source Project, the Ministry of the Interior have been able to install their own security layer, required for the encrypted communication and remote cloud access from forces on the ground.

Sony’s Open Devices program encourages openness through its open source hardware adaptation repositories. Together with community developers and businesses alike, that are contributing patches, the Open Devices program can continuously increase the quality of software for everyone.
