First 64-bit Xperia devices added to Sony’s Open Device project

Today the flagship devices Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z4 Tablet WiFi have been added to our Open Device project. With this addition, it is now possible for developers to build AOSP versions for the first Xperia devices based on the 64-bit Qualcomm© Snapdragon 810 processor.
All resources for devices included in the Open Device project can be found in the AOSP for Xperia pages on Developer World. The AOSP device configurations for Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z4 Tablet WiFi are free for you as a developer to use and to contribute to. You can find the software repositories by following the links on the supported devices and resources page.
You might notice that a repository for the 64-bit Xperia M4 Aqua also has been added on the Sony Xperia Developer World GitHub account. However, it is not possible to unlock the Xperia M4 Aqua at this point in time.
Together with the new GitHub code repositories, we have also updated the software binaries for AOSP Lollipop (Android 5.1), and the step-by-step AOSP build instructions on how to configure, build and flash the image onto your Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet or Xperia Z4 Tablet WiFi.
Are you eager to get started?
Head over to our AOSP for Xperia pages where you will find all the resources you need, including the list of supported devices and resources.
Before you build your own version of Android for unlocked Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z4 Tablet WiFi, you should remember that the software binaries for AOSP come with some important limitations. For example, there could be stability issues, and important functions may be disabled. Please also note that after unlocking your device you should not enable My Xperia (found in the settings menu under security on some devices running Android 5.0), as this might cause the device to malfunction.
