8 mic head-mounted wearable solution using Spresense microcontroller board
The Automatic Control team at the University of Linköping (LIU), Sweden, has developed a solution for sound source localization using Sony’s Spresense microcontroller board. The development is done is cooperation with the company Oticon who specializes in hearing aid equipment.
By using Spresense’ ability to simultaneously handle 8 parallel microphone inputs, the team has built a battery powered head-mounted wearable that records and analyzes the sound streams in real-time. It’s a very good example where Spresense’ powerful microprocessor is combined with some quite elaborate mathematical algorithms to solve a complex computing task.
