Terminology

The list below defines some of the basic terms you’ll come across when developing for SmartEyeglass.

Card A screen display that appears in the main menu for SmartEyeglass, representing the entry point for an app. For more information about UI structure and terms, see Design guidelines.
HostApp An application running on the host phone that works in conjunction with SmartConnect to give your SmartEyeglass app access to the device.
Layers The way a set of display screens are structured for SmartEyeglass apps, with the top layer being the main menu of entry-point screens. When the user runs your app,  the UI should allow the user to move down through additional  logical levels . For more information about UI structure and terms, see Design guidelines.
Layouts An XML-based display definition.
Power modes By default, SmartEyeglass communicates with its host device over a Bluetooth connection. You can shift to a mode that uses a WLAN connection, for higher performance at the cost of increased power consumption. For more information, see the Settings guide.
Sony accessory A group of wearable hardware devices which includes SmartWatch 2, SmartEyeglass, and Smart Wireless Headsets
SmartConnect An application running on the host phone that works in conjunction with the Host Application to give your SmartEyeglass app access to the device.
Smart Extensions framework A common set of APIs that applies to all devices in the Sony accessory family.
