Hardware overview

The SmartEyeglass device consists of an eyewear device and a wired controller that communicates with a host Android mobile device over a Bluetooth or WLAN connection. For selected markets, you can buy SmartEyeglass Developer Edition SED-E1.

  • The eyewear device contains the display, a camera, and sensors.
  • The controller contains a battery, microphone, and speakers. Buttons and a touch sensor accept user input.

Sensor data and image data collected by the camera and sensors go over the wired connection to the controller, where they are accessible to your SmartEyeglass app running on the host device through the Bluetooth or WLAN connection. Similarly, I/O gestures from the controller, such as button presses and taps or swipes, cause software events that go through the Bluetooth or WLAN connection to your SmartEyeglass app running on the host device.

Hardware operation

  • Power On/Off: Hold down “Power” for about 4 seconds.
  • Hardware Reset: Hold down “Power” & “Cam” for about 7 seconds.
  • Battery Charging: Connect the controller to an AC/USB Power Adapter to recharge the battery.
