About Sony Automotive image sensors

The image sensors for automotive from Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (SSS) utilize technologies such as high dynamic range (HDR) imaging and LED flicker mitigation (LFM/LED Flicker Mitigation) to realize performance for the stable acquisition of high definition images in various automobile travel situations.

High sensitivity

High-sensitivity characteristics allows for the acquisition of high-quality image streams, enabling the recognition of object shapes and colors in low-light environments.

High Dynamic Range (HDR)

High-quality data with little highlight blowout (clipping), overexposure or loss of detail in the shadows, can be acquired in situations with high contrast illuminance. Examples of these kind of conditions are in tunnel entrances or exits, or when interesting objects are heavily backlit.

LFM (LED Flicker Mitigation)

LFM suppresses the flicker generated when capturing traffic lights and signs that use LED light sources, enabling the acquisition of high-quality imagery.

Key features

Can identify colors at 0.1 lx

The dynamic range is above 120 dB

Can identify traffic signs 160 m ahead

Stable up to 105 °C
